Took some high resolution photos of the GSD's and G2SD's innards.

PS: You can trigger the OS update (G2SD) at P103 and P104. C310 resets the calculator.

Wonder why they separated the SD slot from the mainboard.

Cost efficiency? Just cut it off and you've got an fx-9860G.
And what about the display lines? You can't easily relocate them.

Good point.

The G2 is what, 2 weeks old? give it time, maybe they'll fix it in the next OS update; and if they don't... well, that'd be a problem then.

The display issue may be due to the backlight technology, but I haven't heard problems about it on the Slim version, so I don't see what could of go wrong.

I meant the pcb<=>display connection. You can't put it somewhere else.

Good news for all people who bought an expensive SD model:
Guru Simon found out that only these models are equipped with 512 KB of RAM.

Yes, it's true. If you don't have an SD version, you probably bought a crippled 256K RAM...

Are you sure? I know that both the FX-9860GII and FX-9860GII SD
are available in Germany. If you check Casio's website ( in German )
you can read the specs:

German: FX-9860GII Specs

German: FX-9860GII SD Specs

According to Casio's German language site, both the GII and the
GII SD have 61KB of RAM and 1.5MB of Flash. Maybe though we're
talking about different models ... or Casio has different specs for
models released in different parts of the world? Do you have a link
for the 256KB vs 512KB memory specs? Not doubting you, just am
curious since I haven't read those specs anywhere yet.

Well, this is the user available memory...

Have a look here for a list of built-in hardware components:
